PHUNGKAY VEGAN SUPPER CLUB
Come and join us in celebrating Chinese New Year at The Institute of Light, as we welcome the Year of the Dog on 17th and 18th February.
PhungKay have put together a special Vegan Chinese six course tasting menu inspired from their cultural roots.
Following the tradition of Chinese New Year being a season of gifting and giving, 20% of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the LGBTIQ Outside Project.
The Outside Project is a 12 bed crisis and homeless shelter for the LGBTIQ and community. They also run a community hub and support local LGBTIQ groups and initiatives wherever the shelter (a converted bus) is parked. We feel very privileged to help a very worthy cause.
PHUNGKAY VEGAN CHINESE NEW YEAR MENU
Course 1 Crispy Lotus Roots marinated in red fermented bean curd
Course 2 Stir fry turnip cake in XO sauce with beansprouts
Course 3 Taiwanese popcorn “chicken” (3 pieces)
Course 4 Pan fried pepper “beef” bun (1 piece)
Course 5 Braised shredded “duck” with preserved vegetables in rice vermicelli
Course 6 Jin deui and Tong Sui (fried sesame glutinous rice balls and traditional Chinese sweet soup dessert)
ON THE DAY:
There will be two sittings on each day 6.00pm to 8.30pm and 8.30pm to 11pm. First 30mins of each sitting will be an opportunity to mingle over the welcome drink or alternatively IOL have a very well stocked bar which you can purchase from. Dinner service will commence from 6.30pm or 9pm depending on which sitting you have purchased.
