The Bluestocking Club present: Literary Friction, Live!

The Bluestocking Club and The Institute of Light are teaming up with NTS Radio show Literary Friction, presented by Carrie Plitt and Octavia Bright, for a special live recorded episode of the acclaimed podcast. Carrie and Octavia will discuss Henry and June (1990), which tells the true story of Henry Miller and his wife’s affair with iconic essayist Anaïs Nin, and will welcome audience questions before a screening of the film.

Directed by Philip Kaufman (The Unbearable Lightness of Being; The Right Stuff), Henry and June is adapted from the posthumously-published Unexpurgated Diary of Anaïs Nin, and stars Fred Ward, Maria de Medeiros and Uma Thurman. The diaries were written between the Octobers of 1931-2, and chart her uninhibited and emotional affair with the couple. (This is not a film to bring your dad along to.)

Inspired by the original ‘Bluestockings’ of the eighteenth century, The Bluestocking Club merges book and film club with a programme of thought-provoking literary adaptations, from period drama to animation, film noir to sci-fi.

Tickets cost £10 in advance (£12 on the door). Advance tickets available here: https://www.the-institute-of-light.com/whats-on/bluestocking-club-presents-literary-friction-henry-and-june/
